Couples Therapy may be for you if:

You’ve been trying to fix that same fight, on repeat, but you can’t seem to get anywhere. You’ve accomplished some big things together but still feel disconnected from one another. Maybe you try to talk about this stuff and end up hurting each other more. You feel pressure to figure it out and move forward but are stuck in place. It’s as if the music is playing but you aren’t on the dance floor together.

When it comes to talking about this stuff, you feel dread. Maybe you’ve found yourself asking, “How did we get here?” Or, “I like where we are, but maybe we could be even better? Is there something more we could be doing?” Or, “This feels crazy making! Should I stay or should I go?”

Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy can help you address painful patterns, lean into discomfort in a safe way, improve communication and deepen your emotional connection. Whether you’re repairing an attachment injury, such as an affair, or wanting to do pre-marital work, I know for sure that when both partners feel heard and seen, you can release the painful cycle and enhance the connection you’ve been longing for.

wHAT IS EMOTIONALLY FOCUSED THERAPY (EFT)?

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a shorter-term, structured therapy. It’s a present-focused, emotionally based, humanistic approach and a client-centered model. EFT is rooted in attachment theory and provides a roadmap for understanding adult loving relationships. With the couple relationship as the client, this model works for many different issues and populations. In research studies, EFT has helped over 90% of couples improve their relationship and over 70% of couples to recover from distress. I am a Certified EFT Therapist through the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT).

step one

Schedule a free, 15-minute consult call to determine if you and I will be a good fit to work together.

step two

For your first session, we’ll meet for 60 minutes and discuss what’s going on for you now. During the second and third sessions, I’ll meet with each partner, individually. On our fourth appointment, I’ll provide feedback and we’ll review goals and next steps together.

step three

We’ll meet weekly, online, until we return to my New York City office (post COVID-19). Length of therapy depends on you and your goals, but most of my clients see me for at least 6-12 months.
